Battle For Neighborville: The 6 Best Plants, Ranked By Strength (2024)

Plants Vs. Zombies was an unexpected combination of two very different worlds but ended up creating an amazing experience. It’s been over ten years since the very first game launched and the series has continued to grow. From a 2D tower-defense strategy game, it has evolved into a fully 3D online multiplayer title with the first entry being Garden Warfare.

The most recent of this new series is Battle For Neighborville, which combines open-world gameplay with PvP battles and challenges. You can play on the side of the plants or the zombies with each offering 12 different classes to play. Many classic plants return to the fray with some newcomers in tow, so it’s good to identify the strongest.

6 Chomper

In the original game, Chompers are and arguably still are the most terrifying plant to grace the soil. They’re inspired by venus flytraps with their huge gaping maws and sharp teeth. When planted, they stay still until a zombie comes in range and then eat them in a single bite. This allows them to take down most zombies instantly, but they can only eat one at a time and are vulnerable while they’re chewing. For the most part, they maintain a lot of their traits with a few new upgrades.

As is expected, Chompers are close-range fighters that dish out a lot of damage with their bite attack. They also have a precision ranged attack with a low-fire rate but moderate damage. Their strongest ability lets them burrow underground and emerge beneath an enemy zombie to eat them in a single bite. They can also lay traps to stun enemies to make them vulnerable and create a cloud of toxic gas that can slow groups.

5 Snapdragon

Named after the colorful flower, these plant creatures are beautiful in their own way. Appearing as green stems with dragon heads, Snapdragons use fire to cleanse the battlefield. When planted in the yard, they can spit out a wave of fire that travels across several lanes hitting multiple targets for solid damage. Their Neighborville counterparts maintain their original appearance and affinity for fire.

However, their attack now takes the form of a mid-range flamethrower which you can fire in a continuous stream to quickly eat through enemy health. They still have their flame-wall attack that can hit groups of enemies as well as fireball attack that homes in on targets. They’re also finally able to use their wings to make an impact and take their effectiveness to greater heights.

4 Peashooter

The first plant to fight back, the Peashooter is the cornerstone of the Plant Army. When planted in the yard, these green guys reliably shoot peas in a straight line at long range for decent damage. They come in several varieties and can even be turned into Gatling guns. The Peashooters have taken their versatility to the frontlines of Neighborville.

They have their trademark look and attack which does high damage and has a splash effect. For crowd control, they can throw explosive beans which hit hard and have a big blast radius. To really dish out damage, Peashooters can plant themselves to become a turret for a high rate of fire and precision shooting. Lastly, they can activate boost to raise their speed, fire rate, jump height, and gain the ability to hover.

3 Kernel Corn

Definitely the corniest member of the plant army, Kernel Corn didn’t always play a shooter role. In the first game, corn took the form of a Corn-Catapult made for rooftop battles. They could launch kernels in an arc for light damage and the occasional stick of butter for medium damage that can also stun zombies. They’ve been completely transformed into foot soldiers for the Neighborville battle. Now they’re equipped with dual weapons that have a precise and high rate of fire for light to medium damage.

Their butter attack now acts as a beacon that can be used to track enemies affected by it. Instead of a catapult weapon, they can now catapult themselves in an arc to stay mobile while firing on the ground below. Finally, Kernel Corn can charge their weapons to launch two fast-moving, high-damage explosives.

2 Acorn

While plants have always had a relationship with nuts and seeds, Acorns are a relatively new addition to the ranks. These small warriors are highly mobile which, combined with their small size, makes them very hard to hit. They have a medium-damage head-mounted turret that does moderate damage to targets.

For something more strategic, they can plant remote-control explosives around the field. Their true strength comes from their power to turn into an Oak which boosts their attack power and health. This also allows them to join up with several other Acorns in order to increase overall firepower.

1 Rose

According to both science and song lyrics, every rose has its thorn. However, the Rose from the Plant Army didn’t get a chance to use thorns until the battle grew beyond the yard. Though they’re designated as a support role, the Rose can be a threatening force. They have a precise magic attack that does high damage but runs out quickly.

However, they’re able to curse enemies in order to make them more vulnerable to attacks. They can also stay in the fray longer by making themselves invulnerable while boosting other plants’ speed. Lastly and most devastatingly, they can cast a spell to turn enemies into goats, making them more harmless and squishier targets.
