- Team FOLON is working hard to make Fallout London compatible with latest update, promising a non-canon Wasteland adventure.
Fallout London, the most exciting conversion mod for Fallout 4, just dropped a major development update and while it may not be much to chew on, it will no doubt satisfy fans disappointed by the recent delay. Following nearly a decade of development, Team FOLON's hyper-ambitous add-on was unfortunately pushed back from its scheduled launch date of April 23, 2024 by the announcement that Bethesda was releasing a Next-Gen patch for Fallout 4. While the decision to postpone the mod was definitely correct given the disaterous nature of the update, the community has been waiting for news with bated breath.
Per PCGamesN, Team FOLON finally had good news to share with Fallout London's followers, noting on the mod's Discord that the developers have landed on a new release date. That's no doubt exciting news given that the add-on was indefinitely delayed a few months ago but the group has yet to provide any specifics, meaning the actual launch could still be months away. Having said that, fans have waited years for Fallout London so a little longer won't do anyone any harm.

Fallout 4's Next-Gen Patch Forced The Delay
Newer Doesn't Always Mean Better
Following the announcement that Bethesda was dropping a Next-Gen update for Fallout 4 just days after the scheduled release of Fallout London, the team behind the project ultimately decided to postpone the launch. The reasoning behind the decision was sound as a substantial patch would likely require several aspects of the mod to be rewritten to compensate for any changes to the vanilla game. As it turns out, Team FOLON predicted correctly because the Next-Gen patch proved so disastrous that the Fallout 4 community actually began creating mods to revert the game back to an earlier version.
The Next-Gen patch ended up breaking many of Fallout 4's most popular mods, prompting players to request that Bethesda stop releasing updates for the nearly decade-old game. Aside from the addition of a few new items and minor questlines, the patch was regarded as unnecessary given that it rendered the game unplayable for many in the weeks following its release. While many mods have been fixed to run effectively with the latest version, many were unfortunately left by the wayside.
Whether the planned release of Fallout London has been made to work with the latest update remains to be seen but one has to imagine that Team FOLON has done its due diligene in tweaking the mod. Fallout 4 can be a difficult game to mod given its often finicky nature but the general flexibility of the Creation Engine allows creators to pull off some small miracles. London is shaping up to be just that, serving as an almost non-canon continuation of a franchise that's recently experieced a surge in popularity.
