Orangerine Rena Barrs, Sr.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.John 3:16

Orangerine“Scunion”Barrs, born to Daisy & Greal Barrs on January 24, 1938. He accepted Christ at an early age and Big Daddy Greal and Big Mama Daisy made sure he attended church and was brought up to know the Lord. Raised in Trinidad Texas, the family moved to Manor when he was eight years old where he attended school.

Early in his young adult life, he was drafted to the minor leagues, but due to an accident was unable to pursue that dream, however he was a featured player for the Austin Greyhounds. Orangerine had a great love for baseball and softball and was very well known for coaching numerous women and coed teams alike around the Austin Area. After over 25 years of service to the Austin Independent School District he retired a very well-respected employee in 1995. He loved his children, grandchildren, racing Greyhound dogs, telling stories and he was a ride or die Dallas Cowboy Fan.

Left to cherish his memories is Glynis Bouldin his committed, caring, and loving companion of 23 years who was his best friend and life partner until his death. He also leaves behind, his children – daughters: Phyllis Barrs, Sandra Barrs, Caula Barrs, Clarissa Barrs, Eulanda Perkins and Cheryl Williams-Friday. Sons: Charles Joyner, Larry Middleton, Sr., Kym Hale, Patrick Barrs, Sr., and Cyril Ray Friday. A sister Sammie Bell Lane, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a community of friends.


He is preceded in death by his mother, father, brothers and sisters, oldest daughter Rhonda Barrs, oldest son- Kenneth Joyner and youngest son Orangerine Barrs, Jr
